Order the poster for the play Fordringsägare here.

Fordringsägare is a triangle drama between a woman and two men. The current husband, the artist Adolf, does not know who the stranger is asking questions about his marriage to Tekla. It turns out to be her ex-husband Gustav, who feels disturbed by her, and has therefore called on the couple for revenge. Gustav triggers Adolf’s doubts for the purpose of breaking them, which commences a complex spiral of love, jealousy and vengeance.

There is a timeless relationship drama in Strindberg’s text, an instantness as well as beyond the coiled gender codes and its tragicomic patriarchalism. Something tricky human lights through and also says something interesting about the dramatist’s complex relationship with his roles. Strindberg himself considered that Fordringsägare was a grand and bold mourning game, he wrote the 1889 piece just after “Fröken Julie”.
Fordringsägare is a play for everybody who is interested in relationships – for the needs of confirmation and the art of pride.
