Backstage is a drama about how people handle difficult conflicts where much is at stake and no simple solutions exist.
During the rehearsal work with Richard III, old conflicts in the ensemble surface. In the seduction scene between Richard III and Lady Ann, the actress Inga has a breakdown. The work is interrupted. The entire theatre ends up in crisis. What exactly has happened? And how should the theatre solve the situation?
Backstage catches the debate created by the testimonies under #metoo during the autumn 2017. What is a truth? Whose limit should apply? How to create a scapegoat? And above all – how do we proceed? After each performance, the ensemble and director invite to an audience conversation.
Backstage is Teater Giljotin’s own production in collaboration with Kulturhuset Stadsteatern.
