Bio Rio

Bio Rio is a cinema with its own bistro and bar in Hornstull. Rio shows great films from all over the world and has a wide range of events for all interests and ages. Premiere films are mixed with live operas, movie breakfasts, movie clubs, children’s films and Sweden’s first cinema bar. In Rios bistro you can eat well and vegetarian, for lunch or at dinner.
Bio Rio is one of Stockholm’s few remaining single cinemas from the 1940s. The environment is uniquely preserved and grants have been received from both King Carl XVI Gustaf and the County Administrative Board in order to restore and restore the cinema’s original condition. The cinema was inaugurated in 1943 and was designed by Albin Stark.
